    ▴ Crazy Creatures ▴

    Morning (10-1 pm) - Character design, Drawing/Illustration

    Imagine you’ve just discovered a new and very rare type of creature. Part deep-sea fish, part alien, part Pokémon - it’s up to you! Jumble bits of your favourite animals, myths and characters to Frankenstein up something truly crazy!

    Morning Session: Crazy Creature Cartoons
    We’ll use symbology to express our creature’s personalities and story through drawing, creating detailed cartoons.

    Afternoon Session: Clay Sculptures
    We’ll tweak our designs or even create new ones, forming a blueprint to mould and shape clay, bringing your 3D crazy creatures to life!

    ▴ Abstracts from Other Worlds▴

    Welcome to another world, where faces are made of abstract patterns and the landscape is totally bizarre! This workshop is perfect for young artists eager to explore unique techniques and unconventional art processes.

    Morning Session: Bizarre Landscapes
    Using an array of abstract shapes, create a one-of-a-kind block we’ll use for creating our monoprints. Once dry, transform your print into a vibrant, dynamic and stange landscape with layers of watercolour paint.

    Afternoon Session: Abstract Masks
    Using bold and bright colours, students will create symmetrical masks reminiscent of a Rorschach test! These masks will be an exploration of abstract design principles, focusing on the fun and experimental journey of creating something truly otherworldly.

    🎨It’s all about experimentation, play and embracing unexpected results! Get ready for a journey into the unknown, where the process of making art is as thrilling as the final piece!

    Embark on an exciting drawing adventure! Use your imagination to turn organic shapes and prompts into unique characters, odd objects, and fantastical scenes.

    Morning Session: The Cloud Gazing Drawing Challenge
    We'll begin with fun art games to spark our imagination. Then, students will transform random shapes into amazing characters and objects. What will you see within the shapes? There’s only one way to find out!

    Afternoon Session: Mystical Maps Challenge
    Create detailed maps leading to hidden treasures and mysterious locations. Our challenge is to include top secret collage and drawing prompts given at random, making our maps extra adventurous and exciting! Craft a story that brings your fantastical world to life.

    Step into the jungle of wild wearable art where imagination runs free and fashion meets nature.

    Morning Session: Shoe Painting
    Design and decorate your very own pair of canvas shoes with a wildlife theme. Bring your designs to life using vibrant paints and markers. You'll walk away with footwear that celebrates the beauty of nature!

    Afternoon Session: Headpieces and Crowns
    Create “tree-mendous” headpieces and crowns inspired by the natural world using collage, paper, and craft materials. Let your imagination run wild as you craft accessories featuring elements like leaves, flowers, and animal motifs. Use a multitude of colours, textures, and embellishments to expresses your unique style.

    Join us for a day of portraits, exploring two different styles and processes of making!

    Morning Session: Warhol-Inspired Pop Art Portraits
    
Create dynamic Pop Art portraits of famous artists throughout history! Inspired by Andy Warhol’s famous style, we’ll use layers of bright paint and striking black line work to transform photos of our chosen artists into eye-catching masterpieces.

    Afternoon Session: Self-Portrait Sculptures
    
Ever wanted 4 arms or a mermaid tale? All this and more can be yours! Using cardboard and snaps of their own faces, kids will build unique self-portrait sculptures with exaggerated bodies, multiple arms, legs, and elongated necks and filled with vibrant patterns and colours. The final sculptures will stand upright, showcasing each child's unique artistic vision in a 3D format.

    Get ready for a day of infinite creativity and collectible fun as you make art that you can fold, trade, and treasure forever!

    Morning Session: Infinity Zines
    Create your very own 4-faced zine that endlessly folds into itself, just like a magical piece of origami! This unique zine will feature your art and stories, transforming as you fold it, forming a zine that is both an artwork and a delightful puzzle.

    Afternoon Session: Custom Trading Cards
    Illustrate your own trading cards featuring original characters, creatures, or anything your imagination can dream up! Learn about layout, composition, and how to make your cards stand out with eye-catching designs. We will laminate them to give them a card-like feel. They can be swapped with friends, collected, and cherished as miniature works of art!

  • Absolutely! Our classes are written and taught by Ruby Chew, an award winning practicing artist and educator with over 15 years of experience. Ruby holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts Hons. (2010) and a Masters of Teaching (2023). Ruby is dedicated to providing high-quality instruction tailored to each student's needs.

  • If your child is unwell, we kindly ask they refrain from attending classes to ensure the comfort and well-being of everyone. If a student misses a class due to illness, we offer make-up classes based on availability. Please reach out to us to schedule a make-up session!

  • Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting a bit dirty.
    We recommend wearing sleeves that can be easily pulled up for hands-on activities. Considering the weather, please bring something warm since it's winter. Layers are great, so they can put on a coat if we sit outside.

    Comfort is key, so feel free to dress in whatever makes you feel at ease!

  • While we love having parents involved, we encourage children to participate independently in our classes. This helps foster their creativity and independence. Our instructors are experienced in creating a welcoming and nurturing environment for all students.

  • Half day students - please bring a water bottle and a nut free snack.

    Full day students - please bring a water bottle, a nut free snack and a nut free lunch.

    Kids are also welcome to bring any show-and-tell items like artwork they’ve done at home or a book with inspiring images— just nothing too precious.
