Art Classes FAQ’s & Our Policies:

  • Absolutely! Our classes are written and taught by Ruby Chew, an award winning practicing artist and educator with over 15 years of experience. Ruby holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts Hons. (2010) and a Masters of Teaching (2023). Ruby is dedicated to providing high-quality instruction tailored to each student's needs. Find out more here.

  • Our workshops are designed for kids aged 7–12, but we’re happy to welcome 6-year-olds, especially if they’re attending with an older sibling or friend!

Most workshops can be adapted for younger participants, and we’re always happy to chat if you have questions. If you’re considering booking for a younger child, please reach out so we can gather a bit more info to ensure they have the best experience!

  • Parents and guardians must sign students in and out of class.

Please arrive around 5-10 minutes before class starts.
Come straight on in! Ruby and/or her assistant will greet you and show you around.
There will be a clipboard on the front desk where you can sign your child in and out by writing your arrival time next to their name.

*Please do not leave until this is done. This helps us provide the best duty of care for all students :-)

  • Please bring a water bottle.

Kids are also welcome to bring any show-and-tell items like artwork they’ve done at home or a book with inspiring images— just nothing too precious.

  • Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting a bit dirty.

Comfort is key, so feel free to dress in whatever makes you feel at ease!

  • If your child is unwell, we kindly ask they refrain from attending classes to ensure the comfort and well-being of everyone. If a student misses a class due to illness, we offer make-up classes based on availability. Please reach out to us to schedule a make-up session!

  • We prioritise facilitating a creative, respectful and positive environment for all students. Disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. We follow a restorative practice approach, encouraging students to reflect on their actions and make amends. While we always aim to guide students gently back on track, if a child continues to struggle with this after a few reminders, we'll reach out to parents to discuss the best way forward and may ask you to pick up your child early. Our goal is to support every student in having a great experience!

  • We understand coming to class can be overwhelming for some budding artists - you're most welcome to stay until they feel settled!

From there, we encourage children to participate independently in our classes. This helps foster their creativity and self confidence.

We want all students to feel comfortable in our classes. Our instructors are experienced in creating a welcoming and nurturing environment for everyone!

If you'd like to chat further, we'd love to hear from you! Please don't hesitate to get in touch.

  • Absolutely! We offer discounts for multiple bookings. Please reach out if you have any questions!

  • Free trial classes during term are an excellent way for students new to Studio Ruby Chew to come have a go!

From there, if you’d like to continue (yay!), we can invoice you for the remainder of the term.

Please reach out if you have any further questions about this - we’re here to help!

  • Upon booking, please complete our Student Information Form to ensure we have all the info we need to create the best experience for your budding artist!

Our form will available at check out.
